I work with a client in New York City who has two locations. The first location is in Harlem, while the second is in Brooklyn. Both locations offer the same type of service, so getting both to rank for local search was critical. With NYC being so massive, we only need to win within a one- to two-mile range due to the reach and competition we face. Today, they now have a 373% increase in phone calls to their business from SEO.
Below is the NYC Local SEO case study!
373% Increase in Phone Calls for my NYC Local SEO Client – #seocasestudy
My NYC Local SEO client is seeing a 373% increase in phone calls to their business due to better keyword rankings. Better keyword rankings mean being found on page one of Google via the map pack in a radius around your location. For mobile users searching, they can call the business directly, which leads to more customers for my clients.
373% Increase in Calls YoY – Brooklyn
My client’s Brooklyn location has a 373% increase in phone calls November 2023 – March 2024 compared to the same time period last year. The increase in phone calls comes from mobile searches who are finding my client’s Google Map listing on page one. When you are on your phone, Google presents the phone icon to call a business, which is a KPI that my client is keen on increasing for their business.
Google Map Keyword Rankings – Brooklyn
The tool I’m using to illustrate the before-and-after is from Local Falcon. In the image below, I share the graph for SoLV (top 3 ranking, meaning page 1) for their Brooklyn location. Both target keywords are redacted, but they are medical terms that cost quite a bit via PPC bidding.

10% Increase in Phone Calls – Harlem
Getting phone calls to their Harlem location is a KPI that they (client) care a lot about. Their numbers are not as strong as Brooklyn, but the number of phone calls they get is much higher then Brooklyn. Currently, they are seeing a 10% lift in phone calls year over year.
Google Map Keyword Rankings – Harlem
In this image below, I share the graph for SoLV (top 3 ranking, meaning page 1) growth for my client in Harlem. Both keywords are redacted, but they result in many more patients each month.

High-Level: What Was Done
- Split out each location on their website as their own dedicated page
- Optimized each location (title tags, header tags, ALT tags, and added semantic phrasing throughout the content)
- Embedded each Google Map into the website
- Entity building for both. Got my client to pay to be on relevant NYC directories for their field to boost their NAP rating score
- Optimized the Google My Business accounts for their main service. De-Optimized the GMB listings for services that were not core for their business to make it clear to Google what they should be seen for
- Ran multiple tests using Local Falcon to track the SoLV ranking progress and made updates to the description to improve the ranking
